Heading to the Western Pacific Ocean…

What will you be doing at 11:15 pm tonight? Will you be curled up in bed, or watching a late night show on the sofa?  As you kick back, think of me boarding the first of three flights to travel half-way across the planet to meet my ship in Kota Kinabalu, a city in Malaysian Borneo.

All the way on the north-western tip of the island of Borneo you can find the city of Kota Kinabalu.

While the actual “planes-trains-and-automobile” travel to get there is not much fun, I’m excited to be heading into a new adventure and the next 6 weeks will be filled with firsts for me. It will be my first time to Micronesia, the Solomon Islands, and Papua New Guinea. It will be my first time meeting the people here, snorkeling remote islands, and exploring the sandy beaches, coral atolls, and fringing reefs of the region.

Over the next 6 weeks I’ll be visiting Sulawesi, Raja Ampat and Irian Jaya in Indonesia, as well as Micronesia (Palau, Yap, Pohnpei, Caroline Islands), the Solomon Islands, and Papua New Guinea. I will fly home in early November from Cairns, Australia.

I expect to spend a fair amount of time underwater, so I hope to post some cool underwater shots here soon.

WATCH THIS SPACE!!!  …And enjoy your cozy spot this evening  😉
